Our Financial Planning Discipline
Successful investing in real estate depends on three things: location, location, and location! Likewise, reaching financial goals depends on three things: planning, planning, and even more planning! Many people spend more time planning their vacations than they spend planning for their financial future.
Planning is the process of meeting your life goals through the proper management of your finances. A process, not a product, financial planning consists of six steps that help you take a “big picture” look at where you are financially, what you may need in the future, and what you must do to reach your goals.
We follow the process adopted by the CFP Board. These are:
- Establishing and defining the client-planner relationship.
- Gathering client data, including goals.
- Analyzing and evaluating the client’s financial status.
- Developing and presenting financial planning recommendations and/or alternatives.
- Implementing the financial planning recommendations.
- Monitoring the financial planning recommendations.

What is a Certified Financial Planner?
Many people think all financial planners are “certified”, but this isn’t true. Only those who have fulfilled the certification and renewal requirements of the national CFP Board can display the CFP certification mark. When selecting a financial planner you should feel confident that the person you choose is competent and ethical. The CFP certification mark provides that sense of security.
What is an RIA?
An RIA is an advisor registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission who manages the investments of others, usually for a fee. This designation doesn’t mean that the person is recommended by the SEC, it simply means that they are regulated by the SEC.
